Just Married!

We've created this blog for the newlyweds in case they missed anything on their BIG DAY.

This blog is for you...

After months of planning, the big day was finally here. Here we go!

Team Garden Gate Events and friends worked through out the day setting up for the reception at Wheeler Farm in Murray, Utah. And what a team! Jerry Smith and his daughter Miranda meticulously hung the lights throughout the barn and patio. No small task. Jerry's design was amazing. He is an artist engineer to say the least, and a joy to work with. Thanks Jerry! We look forward to working with him again. Dream lights.....
Above the Lights
While Jerry worked his magic with the lights, Stacie and I worked on staging the vintage furniture, flowers, and tablescapes. We brought our dear friend Nancy to assist because we had such a short amount of time for set up (and she's so much fun to be with).  Thank you Nancy! It was non-stop FUN (another word for WORK).

To add to the excitement, head farmer Dean had some rather unruly bees that he was trying to wrangle. They had taken up residency in a small shed behind the event barn right where we had unloaded our trailer. It just added to the excitement of the Buzzzzz-y day...no worries and no stings.

Hazel McKenna, our creative photographer, had to ask one uninvited guest to "take it outside"!

Speaking of photographers...
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'm going to let the pics do the blogging...

Here Comes the Blog....I mean the Bride!

Well here it is, our first blog ever for Garden Gate Events!  I'm Dana, and together with my business partner Stacie, we own and operate Garden Gate Events.  Indulge me here briefly while I share with you just a few of our many talents!

Did someone say PARTY? Call in the professionals! At Garden Gate, Stacie and I design and execute any event or celebration you might imagine: birthdays, anniversaries, fundraisers, corporate events and of course everything WEDDING! We design gorgeous floral arrangements, tablescapes, vignettes, and venues. We can help you a little – or a lot – depending on your personal needs and budget. Just know that together we can make it FABULOUS! We have years of experience staging and designing and we LOVE what we do!

So our latest project is..... (drum roll please) ....OUR NEW WEB SITE!  GardenGateVintage.com
Yeah....it's about time. We've just been too busy event planning. So here we go, we're going viral...   (wouldn't that be nice)? Not only do we have a website, but we are blogging. Woo hoo!

Amazing, isn't it?  And we are having so much fun. We are in the busy season of weddings!  It has been a non-stop Event summer.

We're busy with final preparations for another wedding at Wheeler Farm's Historic Barn in Salt Lake City this Friday.  We are finalizing last minute details before the BIG DAY!!! Crunch time with an adrenalin high -  we are so excited!

You know, planning a wedding is a huge undertaking. It's a very exciting time for the newly engaged couple, but wow...talk about overwhelming! So many decisions to make, so many opinions from well meaning friends and relatives (you know what I'm saying here). So much love it can be stifling. So much to do, so little time, where to begin, so little budget...HELP!

We advise everyone to hire an event planner (a bit self-promoting, but TRUE!). You think you can't afford it? Think again. By leaving it to the experts, the bride, groom and their families can truly relax and enjoy their wedding day. You breathe, we've got you covered.  Did I say we love what we do? There is nothing more satisfying than creating a beautiful event. Side note: Stacie and I are perfectionists. Details, details, DETAILS!!! It shows in our work and our clients love us.

Project Wedding - Emily and Dan August 16, 2013
Our wedding couple, Emily and Dan, requested a rustic, vintage-style reception which works beautifully at Wheeler Farm. We are using antique furniture, china, and chandeliers to create vintage vignettes throughout the barn and on the patio. Of course there will be LIGHTS, lots of twinkle!

We are designing our tablescapes and decorations around the bride's colors (peach, teal, cream with a pinch of lavender) and customizing linens and banners just for her.  We believe that the personalized details help take a nice wedding to spectacular!

Here's our bride, Emily, with the fabulous bouquet that Stacie designed especially for her.  We included lace from her grandmother (something borrowed) to match her beautiful wedding dress.  The coral color of the roses pops against the creams and lavender.  And did you notice the succulents?  Locally known as "Hen and chicks" – so appropriate for a wedding at the barn don't you think?

Okay, enough of my narrative!  We will be posting a lot of pictures after the wedding, I promise!

So, our best wishes to Emily and Dan as they start their new lives together.  It has been an honor for Garden Gate Events to help create this beautiful day.  Can't wait until Friday.
